How to Promote an Event

Channels for Promotion

  • Create a poster, put up at least one week in advance

  • Create an Instagram post

    • Tag @gwrha to be reposted

  • Draft text for your Community Coordinator to send in their newsletter

Communications Approval

Most physical and digital materials need to be approved. To submit something for approval, fill out the Communications Approval form.


Content that needs to be approved

  • New or original content, unless it is on the “content that does not need to be approved” list

  • Physical and digital event posters

  • Reposts from non-RHA-affiliated accounts (e.g. other student orgs, GW offices/departments, non-GW people/organizations)

  • Photos and videos that are not taken at an approved Hall Council events

  • Resident spotlights


Content that does not need to be approved

  • Content posted by the main RHA Instagram account 

  • Content posted by another RHA Hall Council account

  • Content for joint Hall Council events that has already been approved 

  • Instagram posts of images or videos taken during an approved Hall Council event

  • Modified formats of approved content (e.g. Instagram story-sized version of approved poster)

  • Email text to be sent out by Community Coordinators


Content that is not allowed

  • Anything with specific movie titles

  • Anything that violates GW policy
