The Committee Corps is a group of RHA members who are dedicated to serving on up to two of our internal committees. As a Committee Corps member, you will advance our organization by playing a hands-on role in boosting RHA’s campus and community presence, while working closely with our Executive Board. Rather than having pre-assigned responsibilities, each Committee Corps member’s work is determined by the committee(s) they are part of.

Overview

To remain in good standing, Committee Corps members must meet a combination of mandatory and flexible requirements each semester. Both categories of requirements include meetings and/or events that are worth a specified amount of “flex points.”

 

  • Mandatory requirements: Set meetings and events that every Committee Corps member must attend/host. These include committee meetings and three General Body meetings (GBMs).

    • ​If a committee member cannot attend a meeting or event, email gwrha@gwu.edu with the subject line “Committee Corps Member Absence”.

  • Flexible requirements: A group of various ways to get involved with RHA, each worth a certain amount of points. Rather than having set requirements that all Committee Corps members must fulfill in the same way (i.e., attending GBM #1 on 9/16/25), they must reach a certain “flex point” threshold by attending/volunteering at a combination of flex events and committee meetings. Unlike mandatory requirements, each Committee Corps member can choose a unique way to meet the flexible requirements.

Mandatory Requirements

  • 4 General Body Meetings in the spring semester (you must attend GBMs on the 4 dates specified below, not any 4 of your choice out of the 8 GBMs total):

    • GBM #1: September 30, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM (Corcoran 101A)

      • Introduction to RHA, budget voting, and summer bylaw changes.

      • ResFest

    • GBM #3: October 28, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM (Corcoran 101A)

      • Dean Coleman will be speaking.

    • GBM #4: November 11, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM (Vern, Post Hall)

      • Dean Betsy

      • Service project.

    • GBM #5: December 12, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM (Corcoran 101A)

      • GBM Availability Form

      • Semester wrap-up

  • 1 Flex Event

    • Flex events are open to both Committee Corps members and Hall Council members

    • Many will be professional development workshops hosted by each team on EBoard that relate to their area of expertise

      • Some will be social events planned and hosted by our Member Engagement Committee

    • All flex events are a great way to connect, hang out, and make friends with other members of RHA (especially those with whom you may not regularly work)!

  • 1 Conference 

    • Kickoff!

  • Serve as an active committee member (see Committee Charter for reference)

    • “Active” includes, but is not limited to, attending committee meetings

      • *Check requirements for your specific committee.

Flexible Requirements

  • 60 flex points per semester (with check-in dates):

    • In the Fall semester, Committee Corps members must meet two flex point milestones: 30 points by November 1st and 60 points by December 13th. In the Spring semester, Committee Corps members must also meet two flex point milestones, which will be determined at a later date.

      • If the November 1st milestone is not met, Committee Corps members must attend a mandatory check-in meeting in order to remain in good standing. 

      • If the December 13th milestone is not met, members will have to meet certain requirements based on the number of flex points they have in order to remain in good standing.

        • 50-68 points: Member must email the RHA email confirming that they would like to continue in RHA.

        • 20-49 points: Mandatory meeting; poor attendance will be considered when applying to run for the Executive Board or for Assistant Director positions.

        • <20 points: Removal from RHA.

"How do I Reach 80 Points?"

  • *Please Note: If you meet the 80-point requirement before the end of the semester, you MUST continue to attend your committee meetings and fulfill your responsibilities, as specified in your committee’s respective charter.
